Leigh Kelsey at Jenny’s Café
Welcome. If you’re reading this, you scanned a code at Jenny’s — which means something caught your eye. Good. That’s exactly what it’s supposed to do.
I’m Leigh Kelsey. I’ve been sign-writing, paint-spraying, sculpting and generally making things for forty years.
Jenny’s is full of character and curiosities — but if you’ve spotted something big, bold and hand-made that looks like it has a story behind it, that’s probably one of mine. And it’s for sale.
You may have spotted the long red sign with the newspaper cutting on it. That’s my great uncle, Leigh Bentall Kelsey — my namesake — fined 40 shillings in 1914 for riding a motorcycle at excessive speed through Brixton. The need for speed runs in the family.
Tap any of the pictures below and you’ll get the full story behind that piece — how it was made, what it’s made from and what it costs. Some pieces behaved themselves. Others required considerable persuasion and the occasional unrepeatable word. When you’re done, there’s a link at the bottom to bring you straight back here.
My workshop is about 12 miles towards Lincoln. I might even be sitting in the café right now, fuelling up and talking to strangers. If you spot a 63 year old bloke who looks like he makes things, say hello.
And a big thank you to Jenny for having me.
For every sign sold through Jenny’s
15% of the sale price will be donated equally between two charities Jenny’s Café supports — Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance and Lindsey Lodge Hospice. Five signs. Prices from £120 to £225. If something catches your eye, now is a particularly good time to get in touch.

Kawasaki Z1000 G1 – SOLD
1980 US import by me — more vintage than the bike and I have the joints to prove.. Reluctantly, painfully and with considerable protest from several tendons and both shoulders, it is now for sale.
